Proeces Piae / MS Saeculum XIV
Description:Religious manuscript; The manuscript has 329 leaves of very thin vellum and each page measures 4 1/4 by 5 11/16 inches. Text is arranged in two columns of 32 lines of text each. Some of the lines are written in red ink to highlight them as rubics. There are 38 illuminated capital letters interspersed throughout the text. The volume has a blind-stamped brown leather binding measuring 11.8 by 15.5 centimetres with the words "Proeces Piae / MS Saeculum XIV" embossed on the spine. The leather binding has the decoration impressed into the surface by a heated tool, die-stamp, or roll without any addition of gold or color. The design stands out because the leather has been somewhat darkened during the process.
