Burial
Painting depicts church in the background, priests and mourners around a grave on the left. In wood frame, in black, white, brown, red, grey, and blues. Reported missing in December 1989. Transferred from the Santa Barbara Museum of Art in 1982, or 1983. Then the painting was transferred to the National Museum of American Art, presumably in 1982 or 1983. According to the NMAA shipping invoice it was returned in October 1985. In 1989 there was correspondence with the NMAA, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and the Los Angeles Field Office in an attempt to reconcile GSA's records, because the painting was missing. NMAA apparently confirmed verbally that the painting was no longer in their collection.
