53rd Ohio Infantry Bronze Plaque

Description:
Bronze plaque engraved with a description of what occurred at the location the plaque was stolen from during the American Civil War.
Additional Information: The inscription on the plaque reads: "53rd Ohio Infantry Cockerill's Brig., Ewing's Div., 15th Corps. Col. Wells S. Jones. Nov. 25, 1863. On the morning of Nov. 24th, this regiment with its brigade crossed the Tennessee River and advancing with Gen. Sherman's column in the afternoon, occupied the ridge beyond the north end of Missionary Ridge without opposition. During the 25th, the regiment supported a battery which was engaged with the enemy's artillery on Tunnel Hill. On the 26th, the regiment took part in the pursuit as far as Graysville. The regiment suffered no loss."
