19th Century Enrico Marchetti Cello

Description:
19th Century Cello made by Enrico Marchetti in 1890 and has a label visible through one of the f-shaped sound holes. The back is from two pieces of quarter-cut maple of narrow flames descending slightly from the center seam. The sides are from maple similar to the back. The scroll is from quarter-cut maple of faint medium flames. The top is from two pieces of spruce of narrow to broad grain with original added wings to the lower bouts. The varnish is a an orange-brown color. Label inside cello reads: ENRICO MARCHETTI MEDIOLANENSIS Premiato di quindici Medaglie alle Primarie Esposizioni estere e nazionale Fecit in Cuorgne anno Domini 1890
